The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has received credentials of the newly appointed Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mr. Dan Iancu

On October 5th, 2016 the Ambassador of Romania to Baku, Dan Iancu, was received by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilhan Aliyev, to present his credentials.

During the discussions on this occasion, both sides praised the excellent relations between the two countries, in the political, economic, cultural and people-to-people fields, relations developed on the basis of the Strategic Partnership signed in 2009. The two interlocutors exchanged views on the opportunities to further expand and diversify the concrete bilateral cooperation, starting from the mutual interests and the specific priorities for development of both Romania and Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Dan Iancu expressed satisfaction for the upward trend of the Romanian-Azeri political dialogue and economic cooperation and reaffirmed Romania’s solid and constant support for the development of the dialogue between Azerbaijan and the EU and NATO. Among the priorities of his mandate, the Romanian Ambassador highlighted the implementation of concrete projects in the sphere of energy, transport and investment, boosting the exchanges in the field of culture and education, as well as the deepening of people-to-people contacts.
