According to the responsibilities assigned to NATO Contact Point embassies (CPE) and the objectives assumed by Romania within its NATO CPE mandates (2009-2010, 2011-2012, 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 years), the Embassy of Romania to the Republic of Azerbaijan has proposed a series of goals and directions of action:

I. The objectives of the Romanian Embassy in Baku, as NATO CPE in Azerbaijan:

- To contribute to the intensification of political dialogue and cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan;

 - To Inform the Alliance on the development of the relations with Azerbaijan, in order to enhance the level of knowledge of Azerbaijan within NATO;

 - To inform Azerbaijani public opinion about the North Atlantic Alliance current policy, NATO values and standards.

II. Main responsibilities and activities conducted by the Romanian Embassy, in its capacity of NATO CPE:

A. At the political level

- Providing logistical assistance in the organization of visits plaid to Azerbaijan by the officials from NATO International Secretariat;

- Providing logistical assistance in the organization of visits to NATO HQ of the officials from Azerbaijan;

- Organizing debriefings, with the participation of NATO officials and of the meetings of ambassadors of NATO member states, for mutual information and exchange of views on: the internal situation in Azerbaijan, regional developments, Azerbaijan-NATO relationship, etc.

B. In relationships with academic field and civil society organizations

- Organizing of public events (conferences, seminars) and international events (flagship event), in cooperation with NATO and Azerbaijani organizations representing civil society and academic field, on topics of interest to NATO and Azerbaijan;

- Establishing of good cooperation with the relevant higher education institutions from Azerbaijan for better information of students and faculty about NATO;

- Providing assistance for organizing information visits to NATO HQ for the parliamentarians, government officials, academics, NGO representatives and journalists.

C. In the relationship with the Media

- Dissemination of information about NATO main developments and distribution of promotional materials to the Media and the academic institutions from Azerbaijan.

- Offering interviews by the Ambassador of Romania and publication of articles/news about NATO in Media;

- Disseminating information about NATO and distribution of promotional materials to target audiences and the public as a whole.
