Embassy of Romania to Baku, in its capacity of NATO Contact Point Embassy in the Republic of Azerbaijan and Centre for Strategic Studies under the President of Azerbaijan organized on April 4, 2013, the International Conference entitled ”NATO’s role in framing geopolitical situation in South Caucasus and beyond”.

The conference gathered together officials from NATO HQ (through videoconference), Romania, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, as well as leaders of local non-governmental organizations.

In his opening speech, Ambassador of Romania to Baku, H.E. Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, touched upon current state and perspectives of relations between NATO and Azerbaijan, noting substantial high-level contacts.

Other speakers presented different aspects of cooperation of North Atlantic Alliance and Azerbaijan, including main direction for its further development.

Mr. Iulian Chifu, Counsellor on Strategic Affairs and International Security to the President of Romania, highlighted that Azerbaijan represents a strategic partner both for NATO and for the European Union.
