Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, presented a speech in the opening of NATO International Conference ”Emerging security challenges: enhancing energy security in the XXI century”, held in Baku between May 22-23, 2013.

The event was co-organized by Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, United States State Department, NATO Emerging Security Challenges Division and Embassy of Romania to Azerbaijan (in its capacity of NATO Contact Point Embassy).

The conference gathered together NATO officials, members of diplomatic corps accredited in Baku, scholars, representatives of international companies, students and journalists.

Debates focused on Caspian countries role in enhancing energy security of Europe, as well as new challenges to security (with a special emphasis on terrorism and cyber attacks) and critical infrastructure protection.

In his speech, Ambassador of Romania to Baku touched upon Azerbaijan contribution to energy security of European countries, highlighting Romania’s support to further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, as well as Azerbaijan and European Union.
